Wincasinolic began in a single chair on Cornwall Avenue with a simple idea: that nail care deserves the same attention and hygiene standards as any other form of personal health. Nine years later, we are still a small team, still deliberate about every appointment, and still convinced that beautiful nails should never come at the cost of your natural ones.
From One Chair to a Kitsilano Fixture
In 2016, after six years working in busy downtown salons, founder Amelia Kovacs rented a single chair at 1818 Cornwall Avenue. She had one rule: never book more than one client at a time. The result was a slower, quieter kind of appointment — and a small but fiercely loyal following who preferred to wait two weeks for a proper finish rather than rush through a conveyor-belt manicure.
Three years later we added a second station and welcomed Rosa Lindqvist, whose background in fine art made her a natural fit for hand-painted nail design. Together we refined the studio's approach: hospital-grade sterilisation, vegan product lines, and a genuine commitment to teaching clients how to care for their nails between visits.
